Hyvää Joulua, Joyeux Noel, Feliz Navidad and Merry Christmas. The year 2009 closing in, we at the Digression Sessions thought it’d be a good time to make a small summation of what’s been going on during the last 12 months and 12 episodes of Digression Sessions. In addition, we should take a sneak peak of what’s going to happen next year… and finally, to let you in on the best christmas present ever!

The year 2008 brought a lot of changes in our show. You’ve heard Digression Sessions deliver you anykinds of music varying from reggaeton to dark psytrance. This has all been possible because of our Guest DJ part of the show. However, now that we’ve cut the show in half, into a 2 hour show, we do not have the time for the Guest DJ’s anymore. There’s no reason to panic, since now the show is getting even more intense. We are not going to lose the randomness, but instead adding some factual content to the show, concerning the major topics of the modern clubbing scene.

The Digression Sessions christmas special will be aired on a regular schedule but is pre-recorded. Therefore, if you want to be part of the chrismast supermegabash, write us email now! Jimmy will wear a santa costume and answer all your mails. The entire digression sessions staff will spin back to back while eating incredible amounts of ginger cookies and drink gallons of mulled wine.

Everyone’s favourite christmas present has hit the stores. Go to your nearest MP3-dealer (beatport or such) and purchase Timo Juuti’s remix on Moonlighting by Chris Burn for your entire family and be the most popular christmas elf ever!

that being said, remember to visit digressionsessions.wordpress.com

see you next year,

the digression sessions staff

Justice wins the HOOK award!

Posted in Hooks on December 2, 2008 by digressionsessions
Hook award!

Hook award!

We are proud to announce that the first HOOK** award winner is Justice! We know the news about them performing un-plugged is getting quite old already and it might’ve been just a human error, but we don’t care. They still deserve some credit!

- Timo

**HOOK award can be granted to an artists pretending to perform live but instead just acting everything out AND gets caught in a humiliating way! Such occasion could be if a DJ plays a prerecorded MIX CD. The First name of the “award” is excluded in pathetic attempt to avoid any legal inconvenience.

November 2008 show & Deadmoo5e walking…

Posted in News on November 29, 2008 by digressionsessions

It worries me a lot when people like Deadmau get high ranking within certain Top 100 DJ polls. I know the poll is public voting and in no way representetive of the staff who run them, but Deadmau is the one who was quoted as saying that the time of the DJ was coming to an end. Yet is then happy to charge twenty pounds a ticket for people to go and see him play.

If he really thinks that DJ’ing is over then why is he out there on the circuit making cash from it. There are many DJ’s out there who love the job and would kill for prime slots at places like Matter, yet will never get the chance. It is my feeling that if you are a producer or Dj and have no respect for your audience then you should give it up and move on.

People who pay to go out clubbing want to see DJ’s play live and not get spoken down to or taken for a ride. This is just my feeling and obviously other people may feel different to me, but that is the good thing about the internet, we can air our views and respond to criticism alomost instantly.

Digression Sessions will be celebrating its 1 year anniversary by delivering you a four and a half hour show partly recorded from Club Therapy: Digression Sessions Special club event. The event was held two weeks ago in northern Finland, Oulu and the entire evening was hosted by the Digression Session DJ’s: Jimmy H., Timo Juuti and Andy Piney. The sets were recorded and two of them will be aired on DS 1 year anniversary show. Unfortunately, due to technical glitch Jimmys set cannot be aired so instead he will be re-playing it live on air. The staff will spend the entire four and a half hours with you, chatting both on air and on web.

Sami Saari’s Wicked Recordings launching this fall!

Posted in Uncategorized on October 1, 2008 by digressionsessions

In our last show we heard exciting news from our Guest DJ Sami Saari. Sami is launching his own label this fall, called Wicked Recordings. When we asked Sami ’bout his future plans, the response was simply “the next release will be an EP on my own label”. You should’ve seen Andy’s face!! I wasn’t that suprised since I’ve known this for sometime, but as an A&R of Wicked Recordings (yes, another suprise!) I didn’t want to spoil the fun from my future boss by gossiping around. Wicked Recordings will focus on twisted tech-, progessive- and electrohouse tracks by providing you extremely high quality releases on cd and digital format. The first two releases will be from Sami and from our co-op project Autoload. Stay tuned for more news on Wicked Recordings.
